A coat can be classic, emphasizing sartorial proportions or fabrics. A coat can be a statement piece too, luxurious trims, bright colours or unusual dimensions can reflect your mood, fashion sense and personality. From puffas to driving coats, the world of men’s outerwear is full of wonders. FW11 has introduced a tricky yet beautiful version, steeped in fashion history and sartorial tradition, the long coat, with hemlines ranging from the knee all the way down to the ankles.The fabrics are luxurious- cashmere, alpaca or classic tweed and flannel. To maintain the traditional feel of the coat, the colour palette is rich and sensuous consisting of earthy tones or traditional black and shades of grey.

 The full-length coat for men is a true item of luxury. The elongated silhouette reminiscent of military uniforms is brought up to date with precious fabrics and fur trim round the collar.

 Light colours in winter are a fashion conscious and often courageous choice. Opt for a classic camel or creamy beige to be on trend and stay safe. Otherwise go all out with a full-length white coat to make sure you look white hot this winter.

 The utility or country gentleman trend has been around for a couple of seasons and this year it has taken over outerwear.  Silhouettes which resemble shooting jackets or riding coats are a must have. As a less country inspired look, choose the ubiquitous duffle coat.
