Some unfortunate souls (like us) have been on holiday for almost four weeks, and the prospect of leaving the sunny beaches or exotic travel location behind spells out doom and gloom. We’re about to swap flip flops and bikinis for high heel shoes and blazers, and instead of looking out towards the horizon on the beach front we’ll be staring at our computer monitors for at least 8 hours a day.

As short snippets of fun, as a little pick me ups, I’ve found that blogs, funny blogs, are a perfect distraction from that inevitable tedium that can be a day at the office. Discreet but a bundle of laughs, here are 5 blogs that will brighten even the dullest back-to-work day, just make sure you’re not caught LOLing at your screen by your boss when you’re in fact supposed to be working out the seating for the fashion show in September!

The mobile phone has changed the world as we know it. For those old enough to remember what life was like before the skype, watsapp and the sms, the mobile is somewhat of a mixed blessing. Yes, you can be reached at all times, play games while on the go and even watch you favourite shows. On the flip side, you’re reachable all the time, and for parents, the mobile is something of a digital leash. Tiresome, I know, but there if there’s one good thing that has come out of all this are parents’ text messages, so much so that an entire Tumblr has been dedicated to the cream of these hilarious conversations. Switch between you spreadsheet to these little pearls of nonsense to make that sense of imprisonment within the walls of the office after a glorious lunch hour spent in the sun disappear.

The fail blog is pretty much world renowned for its pictures and videos which highlight the attempts at greatness, or normality by humans and animals, all of which result in epic failures and much entertainment for those who scour the website. From pictures of cars driving in traffic with the grocery bag still on the roof to nonsensical Facebook status updates, and the comments below as well as humorous billboard ads, there is something to tickle your LOL button, as long as your laughs are triggered by other people’s mess ups. If you need to believe in the innate hilarity of human nature, following a boring meeting at work, this site is for you!!

The world of the mobile phone is an endless source of humour, especially drunken text messages. And if your boss catches you looking through the site, he or she will not be able to resist the cuteness and humour of these animal protagonists, and you’ll be saved a scolding.
