Long been an iconic symbol of the flair of Italian motorcycle design the Ducati Monster has also been the yardstick for the entire industry, inspiring many imitations. Now the Bolognese firm is set to extend it’s supremacy further with the Ducati Monster 795, a low spec version that is the first to be launched outside Europe and designed specifically for the Asian market.
The Ducati Monster has come to represent the very best of Ducati and it has never rested on its laurels either, with a constant upgrading and improvement in design that have led to this current model. Evolution is not always about improving specs and power and design making a bike that is ‘perfect’. But, smart design, just like Natural Selection is about adapting to an ever-changing environment. This current offspring of the Monster family is a well-rounded, stripped down, no-nonsense adaptation that has every chance of success.
The Monster has always been about ‘naked’ design. Everything is stripped down to the core. There’s nothing unnecessary on this machine and the Monster 795 is very much of the same family. The engine is a L-Twin cylinder, 2 valve per cylinder Desmodromic, air-cooled, which gives the Monster power and blistering roar on the throttle. The front suspension is the Marzocchi 43mm on upside-down forks and the handing is exactly what you’d expect from a Monster, very sensitive steering takes a little getting used to but that is all.
This is everything you would expert from a Monster, only boiled-down to essentials to keep the price low. Certainly this is a sign of the times in that the emerging market for middle-range super bikes is no longer Europe or The States but Asia. The Monster 795 is suitably adapted to blaze a trail over his new terrain and the icon of Italian motoring flair will remain desirable no matter the country, no matter the culture. Boys (and girls) will always drool over a badass sports bike like this and the thundering, shuddering roar and muscular acceleration speaks over any language.
The Monster 795 is the definitive naked sports bike and a lifestyle icon of unmatched brilliance. There is no doubting that there is a high demand for this machine and as the specs are low and it becomes more affordable, the running costs are kept down too. Expect to see the Ducati Monster 795 on Asian roads very soon according to the official website it is already available in China, India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Singapore.
