How well do you know your ancestors?

Even if you have your entire family tree all mapped up for you. Even if you all come from the same little town for generations. Your DNA might reserve some suprises.

How similar is your DNA to that of Gandhi? Or Dita Von Teese.? Do you find yourself Burlesquing around the houses and no one in your family understands why? Well, genes, DNA, it's where we come from.

Nice family portrait. They still haven't found out that their DNA is similar to that of an unknown Maori tribe.

In an era in which we almost can learn anything from information technology, there are still some things that are left to secrecy. However, you know someone will provide just what you need, or even thought you didn't need.

Who we really are seems to be from small scale to big a matter of serious concern for us humans. Anthropology 101 memories take us back to that fundemantal class on identity: family, neighbourhood, town, country, ethnic group. One might even consider planet against aliens. To know where we belong (how many movies like "the kids are allright" where children try to find their biological parent) is what defines us. To a certain degree finding out DNA roots we didn't think existed might make us feel closer to another side of the planet. "The other one" has always been difficult to integrate but what if we have the same DNA? Will it stop our war attitude? Which side will we take?

Where will research take us? It is a fun thing to do for sure. We all want to feel like we have some great DNA components: hey do you know I have the same DNA as Abraham Lincoln? And hope we get elected next turn.

To know, to learn, to explore, to cure, to go beyond the limits of time. It just gives goose bumps to our nerd cells. The website we ran into offers just plenty of that. We are so in: we want to know too. And post it on our wall.

You can even find out how you are related to Marie-Antoinette. No kidding. Your surname is the starting point. Or shall we say tipping genealogy point.
