When a sporty man writes to Santa Claus

Ever got a Christmas present you didn’t want? Well it’s that time of year again and Santa is making his list and he’s checking it twice. To be sure you don’t find something unwanted in your Christmas stocking why not write the man a letter. Here‘s one from a sporty man living in Milan.

Dear Santa Claus,

You know I’ve been a good boy this year, (apart from that time during Milan Fashion Week… and that time in Barcelona… and London), OK, I’ve been QUITE good this year, and when I’ve been bad, I’ve been good at it! So I hope I’m on your list this year and please, please this year let me get something cool!

Ok, you might think I’m a little bit old to be writing to you but look, I’ve had enough and this year I’ve decided to mitigate against the usual crushing disappointment I’ve come to associate with Christmas morning. It’s hard enough to drag myself out of bed with a hangover without having to appear enthusiastic about the well-meaning but misguided offerings that pass for Christmas presents every year.

Just that we’re on the same page Santa (you don’t mind if I use your first name, do you?) let’s just clear a few things up. A tie is not an adequate Christmas present. I appreciate a good tie as much as the next man, and I love the finishing touch of the right tie on a great suit, but let’s face it, It’s not the most imaginative gift, I’d accept it from my five-year-old niece, but you should know better.

All work-related items will be rejected outright. I have everything I need for work, Christmas, the last time I looked, is supposed to be about caring and sharing. So come on Santa, spread the love a little and give me something I actually want!

I get around Milan by scooter. It’s the only way. I’m far too busy and far too impatient to sit in traffic all day, what with business appointments all over the city and a hectic social life I spend my time ducking and diving through the traffic, it’s great fun but it’s dangerous. I need to keep my noggin in one piece, but you know, I want to look stylish too. Have a look at this crash helmet by Dolce&Gabbana, subtle yet cool. Just saying like…

Also, if could draw your attention to this collection of ski-wear that I just happened to see on display in the Dolce&Gabbana store. I’ll be spending much of the holidays on the slopes and Santa, you of all people understand the importance of quality ski-wear – you live in the North Pole and they’re in your fav colour, you see where I’m coming from? There’s all kinds of cool stuff here if you’re stuck for ideas for my stocking fillers – boxing gloves, ski masks, trainers. Last but not least, you know I’m a pretty sporty guy and I like to stay in shape so have a look at these sporty hoodies and sweat pants, I think they would do just the trick!

These are just a few ‘suggestions’ Santa, I know you’ve a lot of boys and girls to go shopping for so thought you could do with a few pointers.

And by the way, you have yourself a very Merry Christmas big man, and stay safe on the slopes!

All the best

Tom
