The original pretty woman

D&G's FW10 catwalk invitation features amongst others Verdi's opera La Traviata - literally translated as the lady that strayed and the very same opera that Julia Roberts watched in the iconic film Pretty Woman.

Released originally in 1990, Pretty Woman is re-released this month on Blu-ray discs - the new high-definition video. The new disc release features never before seen extras from the film including behind-the-scenes footage and clips from the scenes that didn't go quite to plan during filming.

The original opera, La Traviata centres on the story of a courtesan who thought she knew what her life was about. For as long as she (Violetta) can remember, she's lived for fashion, fame, and money. Then - for the very first time ever she finds someone who loves her. Not for her glamour. Not for her body but for herself. Sadly as with all happy endings - no sooner does she find happiness, the past comes back to haunt her, and threatens the man she's so desperately in love with. The average month in our office we'd also like to add...

Take five minutes and revel in another happy ending below - the bewitching soundtrack is of course provided by Verdi and La Traviata.
