The beautiful game

Table football gets a new goal post.

Inspired by Olympic athletes this summer but not quite ready to take to the playing field? With the football season upon us maintain your own style score instead with “11” - the most luxurious plaything we’ve found in a while.

Table football has undergone a whole host of innovations since its inception in 1936. Its undecided whether the game originated in France or Germany, answers on a postcard please…but the Dutch duo GRO design and Tim Modelmarkers have definitely taken the game to new heights with this little number. After cooing over Herzog and de Meuron’s “Bird’s Nest” and PTW’s futuristic “Water Cube” in Beijing this summer, sports venues are seemingly this year’s architectural hot-spots. Echoing this concept, “11” draws inspiration from stadiums built in recent years that have become city landmarks in their own right.

Mirroring a footballer’s high-end status in sport and society today (we can’t wait for the footballers’ wives version), the shiny happy players are hand-crafted from polished chrome that ensures the table is elevated into the premier league. Its a form of entertainment we’d like to see in all first class lounges immediately.

Our verdict? Own goal.

“11” is still in its prototype phase – for more information however however please email info@eleventhegame.com
