Happy Birthday to Lane Crawford – Heritage 160

This fall, the Hong Kong based department store is celebrating 160 years of fashion and style.

Lane Crawford has nothing to envy to renown shopping spots in New York, London or Paris and actually has a “plus” its history.
Comparable to Le Bon Marché in Paris, this Asian department store has been influenced by changes in the society and has followed the evolution of shopping trends throughout more than a century. It is needless to say that Heritage is a word full of meaning for the team that is currently working on this anniversary celebration to come. Founded in 1850 by Thomas Ash Lane and Ninian Crawford, who matched their last names to brand their collaboration, the initial idea was to bring fashion to the Far East but with the understanding of the Far East’s needs and lifestyle. An Asian spot for designers around the world to showcase their talent and creations. To pay tribute to 160 years of fashion trade history in an exhibition selling limited editions of works of fashion is surely not an easy challenge. However for what we know so far the Heritage 160 collection looks very promising and tempting.

Want to a grab a collectable piece that is also a must have and wear this autumn/ winter?

Needed a reason to travel all the way to Hong Kong for a shopping weekend?

Lane Crawford is the name to write down in your diary and to heavily underline. A bold "rendez-vous" that is surely one of the most anticipated by the fashion crowd after the womenswear SS11 collection marathon in September. To get you excited as much as we are, write down your wishlist with Swide.

A cold season should never start without a Trench, iconic and classic, it has been revisited especially for Lane Crawford by 23 top style influencers of today, among them: Anna Dello Russo, Jonathan Adler, Godfrey Deeney, Garance Doré, Nina Garcia, Scott Schuman, Erickson Beamon for Patti Wilson and Lynn Jaeger.
A new season = a new pair of shoes. It is a basic rule to be followed with imagination.

To build up your fashion memories, fly to Hong Kong in business, enter the pop up pantheon for exclusive shoes set up in Lane Crawford and try all the AW 2010 must-haves designed by creative houses such as Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Nicholas Kirkwood.

Try, buy and fly? Sounds like a plan!

160 years and what? The next 160 to imagine. It is an anniversary not a burial. Heritage 160 is about a present that recognized the past but look forward to the future.
