 Gilded mirrors, doors and furniture, damask fabrics, heavy curtains and a cornucopia of exquisitely delicious props such as a 4 tiered cake act as a backdrop to a very modern Versailles. Dutch model Ymre Stiekema plays the part of Queen Marie Antoinette perfectly; beautiful, unashamedly spoiled and somewhat saucy.

 Giampaolo Sgura shoots the iconoclastic fashion story in a portrait like manner, and Anna dello Russo’s flamboyant taste hones in on both the inspiration of the shoot and the iconic woman who perhaps is the mother of baroque extravagance.

And I say, let them eat cake: a Dolce&Gabbana gilded cake with soft silk tulle and lace filling.
