Dolce & Gabbana is a haute mess on Vogue Italia

The cover for Vogue Italia’s Mach issue is a glossy introduction to the main fashion spread shot by Steven Meisel.

The strong references to ghetto culture, revisited in technicolour, almost manga tones, load reality with irony and romance. The themes of the fashion shoot are beautifully condensed on the cover featuring Joan Smalls.

Vogue Italia cover with Joan Smalls wearing Dolce&Gabbana shot by Steven MeiselIn a aesthetically powerful image: Joan Smalls looks like a ghetto princess in Dolce&Gabbana. The garish and sometimes outlandish dress sense of these real life fashion pioneers is reproduced with a micro blazer in courgette printed jacquard, worn underneath an ornate jewel encrusted bustier form the SS12 fashion show collection.

Dolce&Gabbana carries on being ripe for interpretation and inspires the best from the fashion set to always push the boundaries.
