There is something so intrinsically Italian and Dolce&Gabbana about the Alta Moda collection, and the setting of the presentation in July that it has seduced editors far and wide.

The extravagance of the three day event, the opulence of the fashion and the picture perfect backdrop were all imprinted into the imagination, memory and life experience of the lucky press to have been invited.

Vogue Germany, representative of the country, who might not be that into Italian finance, but cannot resist the charm of the country and beauty of the landscape, as well as the world renowned fashion has also been seduced by the idyllic dream like experience of the Alta Moda in Taormina.

In a homage to Newton, a lover of women and a lover of beautiful things, the spread shot by Camilla Akrans mixes nature, architecture and fashion in a way that is unmistakably Italian.

The fashion, exquisite, extravagant inspired by traditional dress (like veiled widows) or unusual ways to treat well known fabrics (astrakhan fur suit) are Dolce&Gabbana through and through.

The very real background, its heritage eerily contaminated by today's architercture or grafiti is justoposed to traditional fashion, even constructed in keeping with the history of dressmaking, yet maintaining its usual twists and turns so very Dolce&Gabbana.

Here’s hoping this spread on Italian fashion and heritage will also influence the other, more infamous spread.
