Woody Allen is no stranger to glamour and fashion, considering the leading ladies he tends to go for. So perhaps, he wanted to inject some of the glitz of the runway, as well as genuine Italian glamour to his latest movie by casting Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana as cameos.
Woody Allen’s filmic tour of Europe stops over in Rome. His upcoming movie To Rome with Love, already features household names such as Ellen Page Penelope Cruz and Alec Baldwin as well as national stars like Oscar winner Roberto Benigni and Ornella Muti, but it has just emerged that the movie can count more home grown stars amongst its cast: Domenico Dolce and Setafno Gabbana.
To Rome with Love, which premiers in Italy on the 20th April, is a perfectly Allen-esque episode movie. Set in Rome, around historical patrimonies such as the Colosseum and the Ara Pacis, the four sketches are divided into two featuring Italians, l one examines the cultural differences between Italians and Americans through stereotypes, while the final one features Woody Allen himself, as the typical American he plays so well.
In
the latter episode Allen has bagged himself two special cameos. Designers
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana appear as part of the audience in a scene set
at the Argentina theatre.
Allen wanted to create an authentic Italian atmosphere, with genuine Italian characters, and how best to perfect it than with two of the most high profile ambassadors of Italy in the world?
