Giampaolo Sgura sets the bar high in terms of opulence in a sensual and decadent shoot starring Bianca Balti, Sam Webb and of course Dolce&Gabbana FW13 collection.
Bianca Balti embodies the faces of opulence on Interview Germany
Interview magazine Germany becomes a canvas for Giampaolo Sgura to depict a world between Caravaggio’s art, Hamletic tragedy and baroque aesthetic.
The chiaro scuro effect given to the photographs, the composition and props suggest Renaissance art, while the opulent baroque inspired clothes from the FW13 Dolce&Gabbana collection add more texture and a depth to these modern works of art.
Referencing the strong Italian artistic tradition, the Dolce&Gabbana FW13 collection was apt for a representation which recalls the stronh heritage from which the collection is born.
The shoot also reminds me of Hamlet, dark, a bit mad and with a sense of foreboding that eventually leads to tragedyc. This is incapsulated in Bianca Balti, seamlessly transitioning from a Virginal Madonna to a temptress, much in the same way as Hamlet imagined his Ophelia.
The Dolce&Gabbana FW13 men’s and women’s collection is beautifully contextualized in this visually opulent shoot which is very Italian, and a perfect way to advertise our Italian spirit on German soil.
