Ashley won our hearts over during her childhood years on the small screen with her twin sister, Mary-Kate, causing mischief and exploring the world around them. Where as Lindsay Lohan had to rely on some smart split screen filming in 'The Parent Trap' (1998), these two mini-madams had each other to play off and were soon known as ‘The Olsen Twins’, causing international confusion as we tried to remember which one was who. This is all about to come to an end as their career paths have finally divided. Ashley Olsen has confirmed that her acting days are behind her, closing the curtain on the silver screen, and throwing herself further into the world of fashion.

Speaking to Elle UK, Ashley revealed that she felt that it was time to take the focus of the camera off her, giving herself the ease and freedom to put more time into her passion for fashion. Together the sisters started their labels; Couture line ‘The Row’, the contemporary collection ‘Elizabeth & James’, a women’s line for J.C.Penny called ‘Olsenboye’ and also a t-shirt line called ‘StyleMint’. Busy, huh? Well, that is one of the reasons Ashley wants to expand within the industry, so that the current labels continue you to thrive in the market.

It is easy to think of these girls scuffing around in oversized sunglasses, boots, baggy sweaters and layers of necklaces, but as they have matured in the fashion environment so has their style. They say, ‘we are perfectionists. We always wanted to be closely involved in everything, to be fully engaged, and that’s why it works.’

So, onwards and upwards it seems. With Mary-Kate keeping her foot in Hollywood and Ashley dressing her sister up in their label’s new looks, do they really think that the media will be leaving them alone anytime soon? We think not. These girls have always stirred up a certain amount of fascination in glossy mags and fashion blogs and I doubt the Olsen onslaught will be slowing down anytime soon.
