Penelope! (Vogue Spain April 09)

Revealing what life is like after an Oscar win, Spanish actress Penelope Cruz definitely looks the Hollywood part in this Vogue Spain cover shoot. Swide discovers more about her new Almodovar film Broken Embraces and her new male co-star to watch...

We're not actually aware of any bad-hair/ropy/off days for Ms.Cruz. Unlike the rest of the world battling with diets, frizzy hair and funny wobbly bits, Penelope looks the continual princess. Featured here in SS09 Dolce & Gabbana, Penelope looks the pretty picture that she is in this Spanish Vogue shoot photographed by uber-snapper Patrick Demarchelier, and styled by Belen AntolinDiaz with hair & make-up by Miki.

Penelope Cruz is currently starring in the new Almodovar film Broken Embraces. Just released in it's native Spain, (the rest of the world will have to wait a few more months), the film is a four-way tale of "amour-fou" (our new word of the day) - mad, passionate love and obsessive love that mixes references to works such as Nicholas Ray's "In a Lonely Place" and Vincente Minnelli's "The Bad and the Beautiful".

Penelope plays a would-be actress from Spain’s provinces who is pursued by an unscrupulous financier. The usual sultry looking Penelope has traded in her brunette locks for a blonde wig in the new film that is shot in the 1950s American film noir style and features the signature Almodóvar themes including fate, the mystery of creation, guilt, and unscrupulous power. Take a peek at the trailer below.

Swide also caught up with one of Penelope's co-stars new actor Rubén Ochandiano earlier in the year. Watch our exclusive interview with him and see Penelope's new blonde hairstyle here www.swide.com/New-Almodovar-film--Broken-Embraces.
