Oh well, I hadn’t realized that my wishes were just a tweet away and could come true through creating network via twitter.
What did Harrods of London send to me?
You know what they say in digital media: ‘tweet me once, i start following, tweet me twice, i send you a gift’. Not true in all cases (I’m still waiting for that red Ferrari FF and believe me, I’ve tweeted like there’s no tomorrow) yet Harrods of London did a big surprise. I had tweeted a while ago about my old Harrods Teddy Bear. And they had asked my adress to send me a new one (did I already tell you I love twitter?). After an exchange of private messages between @iwork4DG and @HarrodsofLondon, I started waiting…
This morning I arrived to the office (no coffee since i just had my teeth bleached, no breakfast because… hello, i work in fashion… and nobody in the office… #lazymondays) and saw a huge box from @HarrodsofLondon right next to my desk.
No way! Such a fantastic start for a rainy, dull Monday… I teared off the wrapping in an instant.
And I had all my childhood memories come back to me: my father who had gone to London for work, who had returned with a suitcase full of goodies for me and my sister from Harrods of London, our Christmas tree with different gifts underneath…
I am glad to share an image of this lovely gift… In era of digital communication, this is a very successful case history: Harrods of London knows how to keep its followers happy and most of all, they know how to create “real” connections taking advantage of this virtual website, twitter. They start tweeting as soon as the store opens its doors in the morning, wishing everyone a nice day, getting in touch with as many followers as they can… But most importantly, they LISTEN. They do not just talk, they get involved in conversations and they listen to the needs and wishes of their customers and also non-customers, which is very wise because this way they create a new market for themselves.
We’ll do our best to welcome him in Milan and keep him in good company. The only thing that worries me is that he’s a bit overweight… I’m sure my colleagues at Dolce&Gabbana will insist on taking him out for jogging in the mornings and for salad during lunch time. We’ll see his transformation from Teddy Bear to Skinny Superman. Watch out.
