Corso Venezia is the home of the latest Dolce&Gabbana store, one where menswear, womenswear, childrenswear and makeup coexist in a homely environment fit for family shopping.
Corso Venezia 7: a new concept with a family feel
Dolce&Gabbana have just opened a new concept store in Milan, and what a store it is! Attention is paid to every detail, Dolce&Gabbana’s love of crafts has been taken to the highest level, yet a homely, family feel is what strikes the most when entering the store.
The main room of the store is a large warehouse type space, with white washed walls and red damask sliding panels on the walls, and masses of natural light. The antique parquets en lozang floor was salvaged and restored from from antique rafters of Milanese and Venetian houses.
Custom made railings in wood and antiquated cast iron line the walls with the Dolce&Gabbana FW13 menswear and womenswear collections. While the display cabinets are antique cupboards or armoires.
At the centre of the room, large tables serve as accessories displays, dividing the room and giving an air of homeliness, which continues with the seating areas which pop up around the store.
On the ground floor, the small leather goods displays lives with an antique bar which serves as the cashiers’ station. Inside the boutique, there could not be some of the elements that hint to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s beloved Sicily: such as head-shaped ceramic vases and ceramics from Caltagirone. A series of paintings and pictures, found in Milanese antique dealer shops, characterise the changing room area and the cash-desk.
The custom made stairs with art nouveau inspired cast iron leafs take you to another world, that of Dolce&Gabbana Bambino.
The homely feel continues with more antique cabinets and adorable antique children’s toys, in the corridor, while the rooms take on a more “institutional feel” with cream carpets, white lacquered display cabinets and mirrors. The Bambino area is divided in two main rooms: Infants and Children.
There is also something of a jewel: almost hidden away from view, a cream satin wrapped room displays the beautiful christening clothes.
Back downstairs we enter into the female sphere with a beautifully decorated Dolce&Gabbana Makeup room. Blush pink wooden panelling on the walls and matching marble floor are offset by art deco mirrored cabinets and an incredible chandelier. The Dolce&Gabbana Makeup displays further pick up on the gold and pink motif. This room, with its own entrance from Corso Venezia leads into a smaller area where a beautifully crafted toilette dominates the room.
