Dolce & Gabbana + Chelsea FC

A unique and very special 3-year partnership was announced live on Swide via Twitter yesterday evening.

Greatly surprised we were among the firsts to discover some illustrations of this collaboration at the Stamford Bridge stadium in London. Chelsea FC owned by Mr. Roman Abramovich and the Italian House founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana; a fashion football love story sealed with passion, a sense of style and a common winning spirit. Blue is the colour, Stamford Bridge stadium is the chosen Mecca, a special newly launched Director & VIP lounge plus the official club suit co-branded and designed by the Italian fashion house are the first concrete steps. Yesterday, Swide was there at 8pm on the dot when the lounge was unveiled and followed the course of the event that culminated with the announcement of this very stylish marriage.

An amazing sporty evening, spiced up with the attendance of 5 Chelsea football players dressed in their Dolce&Gabbana suit: Daniel Sturridge, Henrique Hilario, John Obi Mikel, Michael Essien, Michael Emenalo. Happy we were already so got even more excited when the Italian Chelsea ambassador Fabio Borini made a personal appearance.

A legendary football club met yesterday with a legend-to-become fashion house to express attachment and love “We are really happy about this partnership and to be able to link our name to such a prestigious club like Chelsea. We are big football fans, for us it means healthy competition, intense passion and great discipline. Football players are style icons both on and off the pitch and, on top of this, there is our love of England and of London, which have always been a source of inspiration for our work.” are Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s words.

For the British football club it is the opportunity to raise their style standards and confirm their recognised importance. The future should be very enjoyable for VIP Chelsea football fans with a refurbished and luxurious area, as for the players if they had not experienced a Dolce&Gabbana suit before; they now know what real tailoring means. According to Ron Gourlay, CEO Chelsea Football Club  “We are delighted that Dolce&Gabbana will be our official supplier of formal wear for the next three years. Their designs for this season’s team wear are exceptional, and we’re excited to be partnering with such a world renowned, and innovative design house. In addition to dressing the team, Dolce&Gabbana’s comprehensive redesign of the club’s directors’ lounge and other key areas of the stadium will also serve to showcase our relationship over the next few seasons.”

On Swide will continue to share with you the Dolce&Gabbana and Chelsea FC next steps so stay with us and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
