Get Prepped for next season's trend

The American preppy look has been done over and over again. For F/W11, D&G have interpreted this fashion favourite in their signature, irreverent, fun and always relevant style.

The collection is defined by colour- in all its nuances and used freely in order to create an individual style, ripe for personalisation. The whole colour spectrum is represented, from saturated primary colours to autumnal muted shades.

The separates hone in on the Preppy look of the collection- maintaining of course, the signature D&G style. The playful take on preppy is not only emphasized by the Coca Cola logos and Mickey Mouse prints, but also from the viewpoint of the construction by the unconventional dimensions of the jackets and trousers. The accessories such as bright coloured sneakers, sunglasses and slim ties sum up the look- simple but colourful.

The camel coat is a must for any retro inspired collection, and for D&G its typically embellished with a humorous touch. Perfect to layer over classic trousers and shirts, or for a more fashion forward look, take a leaf from D&G’s show and let your colour imagination run wild.  Match it with skinny trousers, at the centre of the youth market. Wear them low rise and with a tapered legs with a cropped hemline.

The must have jacket for the season is a hybrid between a cardigan and a tailored version. The mix with traditional fabrics and finishings in wool knit make the new D&G blazer an informal yet very considered piece for FW11.

The shrunken jacquard knitwear, which looks like it has been ruined in the wash is another new preppy, campus motif, almost like a freshman has made a mistake in his first load of washing at university. The bold Coca Cola and Mickey Mouse prints as well as the contrasting colours add a further playful element.

To channel the D&G FW11 mood don’t match. There should be no chromatic analysis when getting dressed. Wear corduroy jackets, printed or checked blazers with bright coloured trousers, more printed t-shirts and shirts in technical materials.

No retro, preppy, college look would be complete without the vest. Wear it alone over a shirt or as part of a funky three-piece ensemble, the point is that this is THE ultimate piece for your F/W11 D&G wardrobe.
