The Boyfriend blazer has been on trend for a while, but now you no longer need to raid your other half’s closet to find the right jacket, D&G has answered your prayers.
From bright coloured to cropped ones and maxi coat ones, the boyfriend jacket in its every form was present in the FW11 D&G collection. Mix it with one of the colourful, cheeky, dresses for a young and contemporary look
The
jacket or coat is the must have item to pull off the boyfriend fit fashion
statement. Masculine volumes, wide shoulders, thick, “manly” fabrics. Wear with
a body-con dress to remind the world you’re a woman, and proud to be one. To add
an extra touch of femininity the coats are lined with bright coloured letter
print fabrics. The skirt must peep out from the hem of the coat, which explains
the new mid calf length. Team with high-heeled trainers, 80s sunglasses and
multi coloured clutch bag with charms for the ultimate fashion forward look.
The
cropped jacket also works a charm for an updated boyfriend fit. The shorter
dimension highlights the womanly curves- wear with a mini or leggings in felted
jacquard. Otherwise play with texture and transparency and team the jacket with
a sheer chiffon top and leather trousers.
As
an alternative, maintain the loose silhouette and play with colour. Yellows,
oranges and pinks are optimum. For a young and sexy look choose the contrasting
chiffon and body-con dress to wear underneath your boyfriend coats. Accessories
help to accentuate the game- the Anja pochette, inspired at the inside of a
man’s briefcase is just the trick.
The
parka is often considered to be part of the male sphere of clothing. Well, not
the D&G FW11 ones! Made with chiffon and lined in luxurious fur, the parka
becomes feminine through and though. For the less daring, there are
shearling-lined parkas, or contrasting coloured parkas.
D&G
have revisited the sweater dress in a masculine key too. The egg silhouette,
being the opposite of body-con works the manly feel, while the details are what
set these items firmly in the feminine corner, the chiffon inserts, the mini
dress underneath, are simply womanly.
To
finish off the loose fitting boyfriend trend, accessorise with bright, fun and
young accessories. The multi coloured clutches and mini bags in a variety of
shapes are the perfect complement. Necklaces with letter charms and oversize
earrings give that irreverent look to a very serious fashion statement.
