There is something infinitely luxurious about the Fall Winter 2013 Baroque collection. The fabrics, the craftsmanship, the opulence which references Italy’s great Baroque school, the voluminous silhouettes, everything points to unabashed luxury. Now you can own your very own piece of Baroque heaven without having to leave your house. The collection is now available to buy on the Dolce&Gabbana e-boutique.
Heritage
crafts versus high tech. Within the Dolce&Gabbana FW2013 baroque collection
lives a beautiful dichotomy: traditional handicrafts juxtaposed to modern
techniques. Here we have a waxed organza dress, with laser cut motifs and hand
applied three-dimensional flowers. The white lace dress with exquisite hand made
cross stitching rose motif on the other hand could not be more traditional, in
its making.
The
accessories in the Fall Winter runway collection are also to die for. Intricate
and oversize baroque jewellery, necklace and earrings to be worn together- in
this case the more the better. Intricately embroidered bags with the same motif
and gold thread as the dresses, reminiscent of the finest filigree are applied
to bags and shoes. Pearl applications adorn mini bags and rigid belts.
The
colour palette of the runway collection is two tone, black and white. The white
pieces are beautifully crafted with oversize and soft silhouettes. The black, by
contrast is more rigorous, yet no less stunning. The accent colours were pinks
and red, embodied in the cross-stitched portion of the collection: all
rigorously applied onto white, black or blush lace.
A
strong inspiration for the runway collection are the typically baroque, and
Sicilian Capodimonte ceramics. They come to life as delicate feminine jewellery
constructed with tiny roses and tulle, or as over the top delicious looking
platform sandals.
Volume
is everything in the collection. Achieved with a range of fabrics and prints,
the silhouettes are luscious and opulent. Ruffled lace gives a feather like
buoyancy to some garments, while light double organza flows sinuously like with
this prom silhouette putti print dress.
Nothing
is left to chance in this collection, with every accessory studied and
embellished. Putti print tapestry like handbags, Victorian inspired
boots with kitten heels and spat button fastenings, and of course intricately
embroidered hair slides, combs and those must have headbands.
White
lace: bridal, virginal, ceremonial, and baroque. The Dolce&Gabbana Baroque
collection utilises white with heavy sociological overtones. The intricately
crafted fabrics, result in very different looking dresses, yet equally magical.
Beautifully textured ruffled lace on silk tulle or minimalist shifts with a
beautiful caped shawl.
