The bow tie has been edging its way back into fashion for a few seasons now. Interpreted as geek chic, or vintage elegance, for FW13 the floppy, oversize printed bowtie is dandyish and glamorous.
From Ermenegildo Zegna to Salvatore Ferragamo, the bowtie has made a real come back and off the runways in FW13. Both elegant and a fun way to dress up a shirt and cardigan, the bowtie is a fundamental accessory in the FW season.
Floppy
and actually tied in the way to resemble a large bow, with this novel bowtie the
dandy spirit really comes to the fore. Printed silk jacquards in the form of
paisleys and florals, the floppy bowties are statement accessories. The fringed
edges give them a worn look, well loved, almost like a family heirloom.
The
classic bowties is an undying friend to the short wearer. For FW13 classic is
revisited in a more dandyish key in printed jacquard silks of bold colours.
Angular,
smaller and with sharp edges, this bowtie looks apt to the white tie outfits of
the grand ballrooms of the past. Dumb it down by wearing it with a shirt and
cardigan.
