The Dolce&Gabbana SS12 collection was inspired by everything Italian: vegetable prints, pasta jewellery, village decorative lights and of course Sicilian traditions. Black, is a colour that immediately springs to mind when imagining the typical Sicilian woman’s garbs.
For this season, the Dolce&Gabbana aesthetic revisited the traditional Sicilian black clad woman in a sensual, sometimes overtly sexy fifties bombshell.
Something
between a bodysuit and a bikini. The keyword this summer is stomach: you need to
have a perfect one to wear those midriff bearing bra lets and you need to have a
strong one to find the courage to strut your stuff in these mini outfits. Go all
out with this beach, not beach look by accessorizing with a weaved PVC maxi tote
and matching fifties inspired platform sandals.
A
classic fifties look with a twist. The cotton jacquard full skirt and mini top
are elegant yet sexy. The rough edges look worn, and especially loved before,
adding to the vintage feel. Add further Sicilian edge with a PVC patent leather
Mary Jane cover in net. A weaved PVC mini Dolce Bag is a must with this demure
yet statement outfit.
Raffia
is an important material this spring, and this dress demonstrates the
chameleonic qualities of this material once relegated to beach bags. Textured,
stiff and natural, raffia matches perfectly with the crochet details and
pompoms, traditional of Sicilian decorations. Match it to a crochet detail
shoulder bag and mesh peep toe lace up stilettos.
A
modern touch to a traditional silhouette. This dress with wide skirt and long
sleeves is a very classic look adopted by fifties Sicilian ladies. For 2012
Dolce&Gabbana have innovated with the materials. Washed crepé organza:
sensual, light and see through! Vintage style shoes with matching lace sock and
a waxed paper maxi Dolce Bag finish off the contemporary vintage look.
Backless
and covered in precious crystals: this dress is the linchpin of your summer
parties. Elegant yet sexy, classic yet contemporary, it works with most figures
and for most ages. Add more precious elements with an eel Dolce Bag and tulle
sandals.
