The SS12 Dolce&Gabbana collection was inspired by the inherent beauty and femininity represented by the women in iconic Italian movies from the 50s. These qualities are reflected in many elements of the Spring Summer collection, from the make up to the eyewear.
The
Matt Silk collection is a marriage of vintage with modern. The retro shape and
candy colours are that embodied by the Italian beauty of the Fifties. Rotund and
simple lines, which look and feel genuine like the silhouettes of Sophia Loren
and Gina Lollobrigida.
The
oversize papillion shape is a nod to the cat eye styles popular in the fifties,
but the feel is thoroughly modern.
The
Sicilian allure and sensuality is palpable both in the actual optical wear and
the advertisement campaign shot by Giampaolo Sgura and featuring Bianca Balti.
The Matt silk collection is available both as sunglasses and spectacles in a range of vintage colours: taupe, cherry red, cerulean sky, lipstick pink, mother earth brown and jet black.
The Matt Silk collection will be available in April in Dolce&Gabbana Boutiques Worldwide.
