Yuri’s Corner:
Dancing the Polka (dot)

For this instalment Fashion Editor Yuri Ahn is in the mood to dance the polka, with polka dot prints that is!

Polka dots are an evergreen print, and one much loved by Dolce&Gabbana. The Spring Summer 2013 collection has many versions, for men and women, and today I want to show you two different ways to wear them for a fresh and young look perfect for spring.

Lets start with  the base of the look lies a multicolour striped raffia full skirt to be worn with a silk polka dot top. Here we mix an evergreen print like polka dots with the season’s print: stripes! Over this look choose a linen summer coat with beautiful flower print detailing on the skirt. Is it too many prints? I like to try to create harmonious looks with different prints. Accessories wise do opt for something neutral like a beige leather Sicily bucket bag and canvas and iguana print leather Bellucci sling backs. And take a leaf out of my book with these massive earrings. Accessories, well jewellery in particular are a stylist’s favourite toys! For the this look I’m gonna go all out with print.

Second styling is an elegant cream silk pencil skirt with red mini polka dots. Add a touch of colour with a green silk knitwear and tie it all together with this linen coat with beautiful lace intarsia. The embroidery of the coat lets the green of the top come through while the skirt peeps out from underneath the hem. For the accessories opt for the must have shoes from the collection, a pair of weaved leather sling back Bellucci with 5 cm heel. On a pretty sunny day wear them with green ankle socks to match the top. Wear a matching tanned Sicily bag, and for that touch of Sicily a pair of good luck charms chandelier earrings with crochet trims.

Everything from the looks is available on the Dolce&Gabbana e-boutique now!
