Almost forgotten and relegated to the Wimbledon tennis courts, white, the strongest summer colour for centuries has fallen into disrepute. Dolce&Gabbana resurrects white, forget tennis looks and think bon ton vintage ladies.
White is one of the most well loved colours to wear in summer, light, cool and looks great with a tan. Having said this, white has been ignored by the fashion set for a while, preferring to create white looks for winter and printed or bright colours for summer. This season however, as a continuum to the pastels which were big in SS12, white has made a comeback.
Not
just a bit of white, but total white. Think Sixties teenagers: white brocade
smocks with crochet Peter Pan collar and applied patch pockets. Pretty gold and
pearl buttons add a finishing touch. White on white needs accessories, a crochet
shoulder bag with metal chain and charms as well as crochet cotton earrings in
the shape of flowers with pearl pendants finish off this sixties look.
Moving
on to the next decade, a Seventies inspired mini dress made of macramé lace is
fresh and uber cool for summer. The transparent ¾ length sleeves with ruffle
details add to the freshness. Add some height with white macramé sling backs
with bow and golden heart charm. Break with colour and freeze your look by
opting for a laminated leather silver Dolce Bag.
Now
think Fifties goodie-two-shoes. Brocade shorts with single pleats and turned up
hems. Match it to a cotton short sleeve top with macramé lace peter pan collar
for a cuter than cute look. The outfit begs for flats, so choose lace ballerina
flats with an oversize satin bow.
