Wedding season is upon us. Late Spring and Summer are synonymous with weddings, and their subsequent styling dilemmas. From a grand country affair to a demure city ceremony, Dolce&Gabbana have got it covered!
Another cream, calligraphy inscribed, textured paper envelope drops through the letterbox. Your early morning tea and toast ritual is interrupted by yet another wedding invitation, and that feeling of dread, what do I wear to this one.
Dressing for a wedding is complicated. Etiquette requires that white must be banished from your wardrobe for the occasion, but that’s not enough to get you out of the ultimate fashion pickle. You must make sure not to upstage the bride yet feel comfortable, attractive, maybe even drop dead gorgeous (you never know what the best man may be like). With their first portion of the FW13 collection, Dolce&Gabbana have thought of all of us guests this summer with a brocade based collection which are titillating for the wedding season.
A
country wedding- green fields, manicured gardens, a grand stately home. You’ll
need something eye catching, yet appropriate so you don’t get overpowered by the
sumptuous surroundings. Opt for a yellow and gold brocade a line suit- sixties
and sexy. SS12 is all about matching, so go all out with the total look and
match a pair of peep toe Lily pumps and a mini Sicily handbag.
Summer weddings are popular in beach locations, so if your friends are saying their vows on white sand at sunset, this yellow chiffon floor length dress with maxi crystal embellishments is just the thing.
A
city wedding does not mean drab. Chic and understated, (which is an
understatement), many brides opt for this option in the 21st
century. The guests must fit in with the statement chosen by the happy couple,
so a blue damask Capri pantsuit with crystal embellished square heel sling backs
is just what you need. Match a quilted damask Charles bag for a ladylike finish.
Want a more cocktail party look? A titian blue chiffon mini dress with maxi
crystals is ever is “wedding and the city.”
And
what if the bride or groom is your child? Well we’ve thought of the mother of
the bride too. Pink is a hot favourite of the second most important woman at the
wedding, and of the Queen too. A classic Dolce&Gabbana shift dress in pink
brocade embellished with gold thread and jewels on the neckline is perfect.
Pointed low heel sling backs are elegant and appropriate. Or for the girly girl,
this ensemble of full skirt with long camisole is as cute as a button.
