Bordering to the south with the state of Amazonas, the capitol of which is Manaus, which is the stage of Italy’s first group match against England in the World Cup 2014 lays the Panatal, the unique wetlands which characterizes the Amazonian regions of Brazil. Here is a photographic reportage.
The Pantanal is a tropical wetland and one of the world's largest wetland of any kind. Most of it lies within the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, but it extends into Mato Grosso sprawling over an area estimated at 200.000 square meters. The floodplains are submerged during the rainy seasons for six months a year, nurturing an astonishing biologically diverse collection of aquatic plants and helping support a dense array of animal species.
