When models walked down the Dolce & Gabbana S/S10 runway, Milan assumed airs of Sicily but was also reminiscent of more distant shores and for a while it seemed the catwalk had turned into a tango ballroom. Care to join us for a dance?

 

While the collection was a tribute to their iconic Sicily - a very personal take on the Sicilian woman - Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were keen to introduce another more exotic touch and Argentina is where their minds travelled for inspiration. Miles away from the garish costumes of the ever-so-popular ballroom dancing television shows, but a sophisticated addition of vivid colour and sexy detailing.

Whether in Palermo or Buenos Aires, our lady is a Latin bombshell and so the hourglass figure is where it all begins. Fatale in a corset but playful in fringes!

Showing off your dance moves while showing off your legs; skirts are kept minimally short but rich in details, may it be ruffles or tantalising fringes.

Black and white may be the colours of sophistication but red introduces some much needed passion that would set any Buenos Aires tango salon on fire!

Short and playful is all good but the more accomplished dancer might opt for a slightly more conservative hemlne... Well that would be until she pulls off a move to unveil the pretty pins behind the fringe. Who wants to be demure when locked in a sultry embrace...

Hours of dancing in sweaty dark salons would do wonders for the figure and here's a good occasion to flaunt it! Accentuate that waist with the corset or get creative with a short cardigan tied into a cheeky nod.

There is more to a tango afficionado's life than just dancing and when heading out for a wild night of partying (which would most probably involve more dancing...) accessories become all-important. Keep them discreet but strong in leopard print or timeless black. Match with peep-toe boots and a vertiginous front slit.

For those moments in life that aren't just about dancing and more dancing then a little black is de rigueur. Brighten up the mundane with a helping hand from all those playful touches. And when time comes for that last tango do make it one to remember!
