Web Starlets: Comedy Twitter feed gets TV deal
Post-bloggers, prepare yourself for the next virtual rush of stars. The first twitter happy-ever-after story is Justin Halpern, 29, who's tweet feed is set to become a CBS comedy on US TV.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Halpern who has become an internet star courtesy of his 700,000 followers will co-write the CBS project. The trade paper also reports that Halpern will be a co-executive producer and that the creators of Will and Grace, David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, are on board to develop the comedy. It will then become a pilot before executives decide whether to turn it into a series.
Halpern already has a book deal with Harper Collins - he will co-write the TV project and will also be a co-executive producer.
Halpern moved back in with his parents in San Diego in August and began the Twitter feed based on daily conversations with his dad soon after. You can follow the tweets at twitter.com/Shitmydadsays.
