Eyes Swide Shot: In Berlin models are a thing of the past...
While you do hear nowadays from people in the industry that the Bread & Butter eveny isn't quite what it used to be, it still offers some fairly decent opportunities to marvel at the latest things. Judging from what the Swide cat dragged in there were some surprises in store this year as well. In a sea of (sometimes nauseating) colours and bored-looking flesh-and-blood models, what really stood out were a few rather unusual mannequins.

Meet Ms Paddington! A revamped version of the classic toy, only a little taller and thinner (yep, eating disorders are for teddies too). A downside might be that it sort of looks like a toy fascist impaled a stuffed bear's head on a stick but the very good thing is that it does most definitely distracts from the clothes (clever for the brand with the Miami Vice blazers).

Others are a little less daring but still experimenting and toying around with the idea. This particular stand offered some rather funky looking models, as well as outlandish styling suggestions: spiky hair, black lips and pink eyes for the modern-day punkette while the classic 50s secretary was all about a mild Marge Simpson pink do and some retrotastic frosted pink lipstick... The kind of shade no self-respecting model would ever wear. And just imagine how much would be spent on hairgel...

A taste of the future? While such sights are refreshing we certainly hope not; for how could we feel bad about our bodies and good about our lack of eating disorders without the real flesh-and-blood deal...
