Dollar ReDe$ign Project

| posted Jul 23, 2009

Deciding that the only realistic way to ensure a swift US economic recovery is through a rebranding scheme, the redesign of the iconic US Dollar began - Swide takes a look at the options.

With the American Dollar unchanged since the 1930s, the Dollar ReDe$ign Project offered the opportunity to theoretically 'change' this. With rebranding and redesign often the solution to other product's problems - why not the dollar?

The project, organized by Richard Smith, a creative strategy consultant specializing in transforming brands received thousands of entries. Below Swide takes a look at the winning and runner-up designs.

Interestingly in a poll to decide who should appear on the new bill there was a tie between Captain Jack Sparrow (the Depp version obviously) and surprise, surprise, Barack Obama...with Britney Spears the hot favourite to sing The Star Spangled Banner at the bill's launch party.

Kyle Thompson's design was declared overall winner.
