The material world
Madonna of course sang about living in a material world, not a criminal world - but if only she’d known about the onset of limited edition t-shirts, she may well have altered her lyrics. How does one manage to stay ahead in the office fashion stakes, when the coolest t-shirt du jour in the office is something you can’t bloody well buy?
In a crisis of conscience, there I was on the way to work when I passed a dry-cleaners near the office and spotted Madonna’s aftershow t-shirt from the other night (Mr.G gave them out to special guests) in the window (we’ll return to the fact about the weirdness of a dry-cleaners exhibiting their dirty garments in the window later…). All it would have taken was a word to the signora about how I’d been sent from Dolce & Gabbana (magic words in these parts) to collect the t-shirt and the coveted prize would be mine.

Needless to say my overdraft got the better of me – and I decided that it was better to try faking it rather than run the risk of being booted out of DG land and cheered myself up with a bit of office improvised 'voguing' with my telephone headset instead.
