New boys on the rock blog - Neimo are currently creating an underground industry buzz with their second album Modern Incidental.

ON PERFORMING

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR CURRENT FRENCH TOUR AND WHEN/IF YOU PLAN TO HIT EUROPE?
We’re towards the end of our tour now actually. We’ve been touring France, Belgium and Germany and it’s been a blast. We still have a few gigs coming soon, but we are working hard in the studio on our third LP right now.

 WHAT DO YOU DEMAND BACKSTAGE?
Vegetables and fruits, French cheese, cold cuts, organic wheatbread, beers, beers, beers, a bottle of wine and a bottle of whisky.

WHAT SINGERS INSPIRED YOU TO WANT A LIFE ON THE ROAD?
Many have, but I should say that David St Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel and Derek Smalls have more than anyone else.

DID YOU EVER PRACTISE IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR?
Sure. Everyone should. But you need a good quality hair brush.

DO YOU CRAVE SOLITUDE OF CROWD-MOBBING FAME?
Well not really. It’s a very peculiar feeling though.

ON TWITTER

On Twitter you describe yourselves as the “ Best band and cook in the world.”

WHAT ARE YOUR WINNING RECIPES
Scallops and smoked bacon on a creamy leek stuffed Vol-Au-Vent
Home made Cordon Bleu chicken stuffed with thyme, bresaola and melting Reblochon (French cheese), breaded with crispy wheat and sesame bread.
Paris-Brest (praline cream stuffed bun) or rose and raspberry St Honoré.
Or were you talking about music...?!

WHO IS YOUR ‘DISH OF THE DAY’?
We'd go for the beautiful and fascinating Alison Mosshart.

ON BREAKING INTO THE MAINSTREAM

YOU’VE HAD GROWING SUCCESS FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS ON THE UNDERGROUND AND MAINSTREAM SCENES, GROWING A STRONG FAN BASE IN NIGHTCLUBS AND FESTIVALS. HOW IMPORTANT DO YOU THINK THIS PROCESS IS?

Well, I guess it is an essential process, but when I look at it retrospectively that’s not something we’d actually planned beforehand. It just happened. You make yourself, you grow up artistically and learn a lot by playing in the underground scene. It is an exciting place to turn your music as subtle and as radical as it should be. And we’ll always be grateful to the fans that have been supporting us from the small smokey indie venues and that now follow us on bigger stages and festivals.

WHERE WERE YOU WHEN YOU FIRST HEARD ONE OF YOUR TRACKS ON THE RADIO?
In my car, driving back from a rehearsal, stuck in traffic. I wanted to open my window and tell other people in the cars around, but somehow prevented myself from doing it.

ON THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

DOOM AND GLOOM APPEARS TO BE THE MUSIC INDUSTRY’S MANTRA AT THE MOMENT. HOW DO YOU SEE ITS FUTURE?
Good question. I think no one really knows yet. Actually, since we go on making the music that we like, I don’t really care. And I should say that the most creative forms of art often come from chaos, don’t they?

DO YOU THINK ROCK AND ROLL IS STILL ALIVE?
Was it ever dead? It’s just that it’s not in the clothes you wear or the overdrive in your guitar sound. I think it’s a state of mind, a way of living. It’s here to stay, don’t worry.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO THROW A TV OUT OF A HOTEL WINDOW?
Not really. Well except if they’re playing Jet.

ON FASHION

TELL US HOW YOU CAME TO ATTEND KARL LAGERFELD’S FASHION SHOW?
We met him on a photo shoot for Mixte magazine, he liked our work and decided to support us. We wear lots of clothes from his K by Karl Lagerfeld brand, and we were the models for the Spring Summer 2010 lookbook along with lovely Valentine Fillol Cordier. He also used one of our songs in his latest shows.

WHO ARE YOUR FASHION IDOLS?
Karl for sure. David Bowie for his Thin White Duke years. Jimi Hendrix for his beautiful and legendary vintage furred military “dolman” jacket.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DO YOUR HAIR?
From approximately no time to 30 mins, depending on what I was drinking the night before.

YOU ARE ALL FRENCH, WHICH OBVIOUSLY COMES WITH A STYLISH TAG – HOW TRUE DO YOU THINK THIS IS? WHICH NATION AND WHY DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE MOST STYLISH?
I do think the French know what style is and are definitely good at it, but I should say that the most stylish nation for me are the British, whether for their aristocratic and dandy elegance, fluo or punk extravaganza abilities.

 ON THE FUTURE

WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE IN FIVE YEARS TIME?
Writing our 5th album, touring stadiums and playing the Royal Albert Hall.

WHERE  TO BE IN TEN YEARS TIME?
Trying to apologize for the hits we’d write for Madonna, putting up charity gigs with our new best friends Chris Martin and Jack White, and trying to escape the IRS.

DREAM DUET OR COLLABORATION?
Duet with Julian Casablancas and producing Morrissey’s next record.
