Beck's take on the tea party

Beck is a man we know and love for his (highly) original work. We would have reckoned such a fertile mind would not need to fall back onto the old covers business to get songs out though it was clear he would only be doing so in his unique way. And a few months into the project we must say we very much like what we're hearing!
The Velvet Underground & Nico's Sunday Morning was the first release:
Needless to say we got hooked! More on the project: Beck reckoned he'd invite industry friends around for a little jam session and a new take on some old classics, the rules being that the LP of choice would have to be recorded in a day and its entirety, and that none of the songs would be rehearsed but rather spontaneous offerings of multiple sensibilities and interpretations. Frankly it sounds like the definition of a right old mess but magically - well maybe not magically, we are talking real talents here - it comes together in surprisingly haunting ways.On the guest list: Devendra Banhart, members of MGMT and Wolfmother, our Lost In Translation crush Giovanni Ribisi...

Three artists have been covered so far, including Leonard Cohen and more recently Skip Spence.
Beck et al. + Skip Spence's "War in Peace" = Radiohead on crack.
