LONDON IS KNOWN FOR ITS CREATIVITY PERHAPS MORE THAN ITS GLAMOUR. HOW DOES YOU ADAPT YOUR LOOK (IF AT ALL) WHEN YOU VISIT?

London is such a walking city that I think it's important that clothes be functional. I always wear a lot of cardigans and tailored jackets, boots and hats when I'm in London. Layering is key for the ever changing weather.

YOU'RE IN LONDON TODAY. WHAT IS THE ONE PLACE YOU ALWAYS TRY TO VISIT WHEN YOU'RE THERE?

I always love to visit Notting Hill for all of the charming boutiques and cafes and a trip to London wouldn't be the same without high tea at the Covent Garden Hotel.

IF YOU WERE THE MAYOR OF LONDON FOR THE DAY IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D CHANGE?

I'd have the city be free of all moving traffic and make every street a walking street.

HOW DOES YOU MAKE-UP DIFFER FROM CITY TO CITY? DO YOU OPT FOR A MORE GLAMOROUS LOOK IN MILAN FOR EXAMPLE THAN YOU DO IN NEW YORK?

My make-up doesn't necessarily change from city to city, but more from a daytime event to a night time event. For daytime, I like to keep my look simple with a creamy complexion, rosy cheek and minimal, if any lip colour. For nighttime, I like to try many different looks varying from a smoky eye and nude lip to a classic eyeliner and red lip.

YOU ARE CURRENTLY DOLCE & GABBANA'S MAKE-UP MUSE. DO YOU HAVE A BEAUTY MUSE, SOMEONE WHO'S LOOK YOU'D LOVE TO RE-CREATE?

I always look at classic beauties to pay homage to on the red carpet. Rita Hayworth, Lauren Bacall and Lucille Ball are beauty icons that inspire many of my looks.

IF YOU HAVE ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO SPARE BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE, WHAT IS THE ONE ITEM FROM DOLCE & GABBANA'S MAKE-UP RANGE THAT INSTANTLY GIVES YOU A FEEL-GOOD GLAMOUR FIX.

The lipsticks are absolutely phenomenal. I love the cream lipsticks, the consistency is great and the colours are really opaque. Devil is the ideal red. Wearing it is the perfect way to feel dressed up, flirty and playful without having to put in too much effort.

WEARING GLAMOROUS MAKE-UP CAN BE AN EMPOWERING FEELING. DO YOU HAVE A MOMENT THAT STANDS OUT FOR YOU WHEN PERHAPS YOUR LOOK TRANSFORMED A SITUATION?

Well, I don't know that my look necessarily has transformed a situation so to speak, but certainly the look from the campaign represented a modern glamour and the independent woman and was quite a transformation for me from my everyday look.

DOLCE & GABBANA'S MAKE-UP RANGE HAS IT ORIGINS IN MEDITERRANEAN GLAMOUR. DO YOU HAVE ANY QUICK MAKE-UP TIPS THAT YOU'VE LEARNT FROM USING THE RANGE IN ORDER TO CREATE OLD-SCHOOL BEAUTY?

Use a lip pencil, like #3, to line the outer edges of the lips before filling in with red lipstick in order to create the perfect classic lip shape.

MAKE-UP CAN BE INCREDIBLE THEATRICAL. WHAT FILMS STANDOUT FOR YOU FOR THEIR USE OF MAKE-UP, THE WAY IF PERHAPS TRANSFORMED A SCENE, AN ACTRESS/ACTOR?

Tim Burton's films always allow the actors to use makeup and hair to transform into character. I loved all of the looks from 'Sweeney Todd' particularly Helena Bonham Carter.
