Posted Feb 20, 2012

Lighting up the cover of Marie Claire USA, Eva Mendes looks every bit the Carnival Queen, and just in time too. It is Carnival season in many parts of the world at the moment and we can turn to the American beauty of Eva Mendes for inspiration as she shares her secrets.

Photographed by Txema Yeste and styled by Nina Garcia, the American actress turned model has decided that it was time, yet again, to share her secrets on how to stay on top of your game at 37. Yes, Eva Mendes turns 38 this year, which may come as a shock to most of you, looking as beautiful and youthful as ever. This month’s Marie Claire USA sees the brown-eyed beauty shining like a jewel and bringing a hint elegant fun, inspired by the lights and fireworks of Sicily, to the cover.  In time for the Venetian Carnival, Mendes also offers inspiration when it comes to body image. She says, ‘It doesn’t matter what you have or what you look like. It’s something everyone has to work at. I realize I have contributed to a certain happy, healthy, empowered image, but that’s not all of me. I feel it’s important to let women know that I have similar struggles’.

Straying away from jewels and fireworks, she also dons a 1950s inspired macramé, relaxing in the back of a car. She emulates the Dolce Vita to perfection and brings the glamour of a 50s movie star to the shoot.

The woman can do no wrong and has bagged herself Hollywood hottie, Ryan Gosling, in the process. Not bad Eva Mendes, not bad at all.
