All About Chino Pants

Posted May 24, 2011

Right boys, it's time to take the plunge and learn more about the must-have lower garment of the season. Not shorts, not bermudas, not jeans: but chino pants.

As seen on the runway some would say.... and close the issue right there. There is more to say about chinos - as we like to call them - and many variations to explore. To say fashion has come a long way since chinos' first appearance in British and French uniforms back in the 800s is an understatement. True: its purpose was to be as functional as possible in saving fabric, as wearable as possible without pleats, and its variations as simple as short or long. Might we say it was a fertile ground for exploration? Spring Summer 2011 is a tribute to chinos in all their glory.

50s inspired preppy attire. From soft blue to hawaiian prints, chinos go either classic or fun.

Take a pair of long chino pants and fold them up on the bottom: ready for a picnic. Vichy or classic kakis.

Jean chinos with five pockets and no pleats: fabulous.

Bermudas or shorts that is the questions: a print on top is a must.

The new suit: white of course and with short bottoms.

Espadrillas inspired by the fifties in a light fabric that matches the outfit.
