The 1950s collegiate feel to the D&G FW11 menswear collection was furthered by the ingenious use of prints. The designers’ stroke of creativity of transporting onto puffa jackets, sweatshirts and so on, Mickey Mouse and Coca Cola, two images instinctively recognised the world over, gave the collection that signature playful edge mixed with fashion folly.
The prints are present on the clothing, but also reserved for details like linings, accessories or even hidden away under a coat’s collar.
The Coca Cola images reproduced are actually from the original advertisement posters from the 1950s. The campaigns were selected from many different countries, so the languages that appear on the prints are varied.
But not even the sacred coca cola bottle was left untouched by the signature irreverent D&G flare. Words and images are reversed into mirror writing or turned upside down.
For a thoroughly wintry look, spice up your fur lined parka with a colourful fleece Mickey Mouse sweatshirt in the new egg silhouette. Mix and match with Coca Cola printed sneakers.
For
the all American look, the iconic Mickey Mouse and Coca Cola prints are mixed
with the evocative stars and stripes from the nation’s flag. Alternatively,
choose the t shirts in bold colours for a bright spark on a winter day.
The
corduroy suit has been reinvented by D&G this season. Shorter jacket and
low-slung skinny trousers, with the irreverent Mickey Mouse print behind the
collar.
Wear
a yellow Mickey Mouse print cardigan in bright yellow to bring a ray of sunshine
to a rainy day. Cosy up with a fur lined parka.
For
a modern preppy yet quintessentially D&G look, wear a traditional Prince of
Wales print jacket, low slung chinos and a coca cola print jumper in boiled
wool.
Opt
for a Coca Cola print nylon bomber jacket, or for an easier look, wear a Coca
Cola print hoodie with retro colours. For those who want to have their iconic
Coca Cola bottle always with them, D&G has thought of you too- in the form
of key rings.
For the younger clients, D&G needs to offer easy, casual wear, but always with a twist. Hoodies and sweatshirts with multicoloured prints are a must have A real novelty for the season is the rosy pink Coca Cola print fleece blazer.
