Waiscoats are a rider's best friend

Posted Apr 8, 2010

They may not hold your hair when you puke or be very efficient wingmen but the D&G waistcoats of Fall 2010 shall become your best ally when hitting the slopes (and the bars) on your next ski holiday next winter. Swide's stylist talks you through a day of wearing those stylish new essentials.

The mountain look revisited with an urban touch - courtesy of a washed denim waistcoat.

Wear with sheepskin trousers and bomber jackets with fur lining or fur and leather detailing, and keep the palette simple. It's cabin chic, not carnival chic.

Oversize denim, with a dirty wash to keep up appearances (a good way to pretend you have been out on the slopes all day).

Waistcoat are now made of velvet and best worn with a smart velvet jacket or why not go all out with a morning jacket!

At dinner time things get a little more playful with colourful ski-like nylon trousers and elegant jackets. This one waistcoat is either velvet or denim, to be worn with velvet blazers an elegant coats.

Our party boys then go all out in black and white tuxedos and bow ties... but never forget they're riders at heart.

Should you fail to get kicks from waistcoats alone there is plenty more fun to be had with accessories - classic Fair Isle, ostentatious fur or playful lucky charms. Dressing for the slopeshas gotten interesting.
