Next season's Dolce & Gabbana's collection looks to the surreal for its inspiration. Buttons are no longer buttons but wonderful pieces of jewellery and necklaces are super-sized as the designer's creativity makes anything possible. Swide takes a peek.

The humble button will getting it's moment of glory next season when it takes fashion's centre stage. This little overlooked necessity has been upgraded into a work of art.

Maintaining the surreal theme of the FW09 collection, and that with creativity anything is possible - buttons take on a new form, and look almost as if they're jewellery.

Short jackets made of different kinds of fur or with black fur pom-poms closed with
uniquely shaped jewelled buttons, for example hands that hold roses.

The jewelled buttons are made of turquoise, coral, amethyst, shell and wood.

Jewellery on the other hand, as if competing with the button's new status as a precious object - turn supersized.

Baroque, show-topping pieces - next season's necklaces are made of intertwined turquoise, coral and shells.
