The slopes are the new catwalk

Posted Feb 22, 2010

D&G's F/W 2010-11 collection is all about taking skiwear into a whole new chic dimension as our model snowboarders go from the slopes to the club.

The boys wake up (more or less hungover) and the only thing on their mind is snow. Not ones for the less is more approach they pile on the layers - and the volume! An artful mix of skiwear and technical fabrics with heavy knits (jackets or jumpers, crew neck or turtleneck, old-school Scandinavian motifs or modern hoodie) and denim, all worn with the ubiquitous ski boots.

A few intense hours on the slopes and our boys have worked up quite an appetite - let's go for lunch dressed in urban skiwear. Browns, greys and black, heavy fur-lined jackets over knits, denim that is worn either oversize or with a carrot twist.

All the fun of skiing comes after the slopes - and what better than to start off with a relaxing happy hour! The key is to remain casual and the best way not to overdress is sticking to your jacquard jumper, with the added playful touch of a Mickey Mouse t-shirt (© Disney); the rest of your outfit should be all about comfort in loose denim ... and why not a jersey jumpsuit for the daring!

Things get more serious in the candlelight - dressing to impress without forgetting where one is. Ravenous as they were the boys kept the ski pants on with the addition of the all important formal black jackets (make that a morning jacket for the more daring) and waiscoats, all velvet with a touch of denim.

A night to remember (at least until the hungover morning after) in black and white with the all essential bow-tie, waistcoat... and ski boots, for who knows what might happen on the slopes after hours...

Thinking you're all packed up and ready to go? Don't forget to add the essential accessories to your checklist!

1. Key Ring with lucky charms – wear it your way, as a necklace, on your bag, on your trousers.
2. iPod /iPhone case with lucky charms
3. This season's D&G bag, the Willburg shopping bag, all nappa leather sawn on the inside for an impeccable finish, to carry with the lucky charms keyring.
The same bag is available in matelassé nylon.
4. Another bag is the Billy, also available in nappa leather and nylon.
5. Moon Boots – Urban Walking
Mix of natural fabrics like suede and leather and synthetic, technical fabrics, all with the D&G touch and details (zippers and detachable parts)
