William Somerset Maugham once said “perfection has one fault: it has a tendency to be boring”, but when it comes to fashion for men the first tendency is to apply the concept of fitted perfection. That too can be adventurous as demonstrated in the shows we saw on the catwalks. Here are some suggestive key notes on how to apply the idea to your summer.
In Natural
Earthly tones don’t allow touches of colour. Dressed in classic jackets and
waistcoats, the lightness of the fabrics transforms natural shades into
something more than grounded.
Summer Tailoring
Jackets loose their structure and become complementary shirts, the soft appeal
it creates gives away a sense that casual is never as simple as it looks but in
the end is as much a work of tailoring as anything else.
Off-White
Fitted suits in what at first looks like bright white are in fact playing with
the non-colour in an exquisite way. Whether worn with a short collared shirt,
more sensual than clerical, or a slim tie, these appealing ensembles have a
movie-like effect, a classy high-society allure or a scene from Reservoir Dogs.
Double Breasted
Structured and short giving emphasis to the trousers and shoulders. Focus on the
buttons, slightly oversized or in contrasting colours, they recall a peacoat if
it weren’t for the open V-neck on the jackets.
Fresh Formula
An airy composition made of must-have shorts and extreme light tops and
button-downs. Sheer in precious crepe silk, buttoned all the way up, long
sleeved or worn with a jacket. The transparency gives space to a new way of
wearing a tie and layers.
Light Grey
Grey made a come-back after the fifties Mad Men inspired man and stayed in the
current trends season after season, experimenting each time with a new shade.
Light grey seems to be next year’s elected colour but takes unexpected turns.
Vichy
There is something demure yet fun about this checkered woven fabric, we
immediately want to stroll in the French Riviera in a sports car. Typically used
in cotton, its different sizes and combination of colours can be suitable for
any kind of taste or engagement.
Summer Suede
The refined suede is the end design of sartorial perfection. Light as a feather
it’s taking suede to a new level or wearability. Zipped jacket or the classic
one-button give suede a non-suede attire, especially worn with shorts.
Knits
Understated luxury very country club or chilly summer night in a Tuscan estate.
Summer knits in luxurious summer cashmeres, silk and cotton, or linen blends,
want to be light whatever the shape.
Smart Tuxedo
When you think such statement piece could not be upgraded more for it could
loose its meaning, you see the tuxedo in different surprising versions: without
a shirt, worn with jeans, tie or no tie. Exclusively black.
