Sailing with inspiration

Posted Apr 29, 2009

A style lesson set in the French Riviera as we dive behind the scenes of D&G's nautical inspired SS09 collection

To set the mood for D&G's SS09 collection take a peek at Roman Polanski's first feature film - A Knife In The Water. Set in the 1960's this cult classic, captures the glamour of sailing alongside the beautiful people - an expensive yacht and a chic soundtrack, before that is until they fall into the water.

It's a similar journey D&G embarked upon for SS09 - a chic 1960's sailing trip on the French Riveria. The women look quirky, classy, and stylish in the former playground of Coco Chanel - in oversized sun-hats, Breton stripes, bermudas and glitzy wedges all styled with cheeky twist.

The suave looks from the D&G menswear collection are as fresh as the sea-breeze, imagine if you will what Mark Ronson might wear aboard a yacht if he decided to leave a different type of deck, whereas when the sun goes down the menswear collection is transported straight to a chic Monte Carlo casino.

If you're still in doubt as to the glamour of the French Riviera - take a look at Alfred Hitchcock's legendary movie, "To Catch A Thief", starting Cary Grant and Grace Kelly.

Book your SS09 holiday now - you know what to pack.
