What with the 20th anniversary of Dolce & Gabbana's menswear now more than ever is the time to indulge in a little nostalgia. The upcoming collection celebrates the great sartorial tradition that has always fed Dolce & Gabbana's designs; this is 2010 though so think more David Gandy than sicilian barber!

Men’s Trend review FW13: Sheer Luxe
The mood at the men’s shows was almost oxymoronic to the times. Luxury was the buzzword for the season. Exquisitely crafted suits, tailored coats, fur, cashmere and couture like detailing such as gold thread embroidery made a stark contrast the sombre economic mood.

Pyrotechnics in fashion- start 2012 with a bang
Fireworks are mesmerising. The ooos and ahhs when the sky lights up with delicate, ephemeral shapes, sparkly lights and the contrasting loud bangs inspire and awe the spectators regardless of their culture. These otherworldly shapes in the sky have also inspired Dolce&Gabbana in their Spring Summer 2012 collection.

Duelling is an art form that was once part of everyday life in Milan and all over Europe swords were carried as a matter of habit. But the art has all but died out in recent times, all that remains is the sport of Olympic fencing. However a small group of enthusiasts are spearheading a revival and through their passion, keeping the techniques of duelling alive. Swide’s Hugo Mc Cafferty was invited to watch them train.
