Finishing touches to Dolce & Gabbana's Winter 2011 men's collection

We have always known being a top designer involves a lot of hard work but still we cannot help but think it is a rather glamourous affair. Head full of fantasies we made our way to a designers' atelier in full-working mode only days before the Dolce & Gabbana catwalk show on January 16th. Exhausting it was but disappointing it most definitely wasn't! We left our head still full of fantasies and plenty of images of fine tailoring, gorgeous fabrics... We bring you a selection from a few hours spent:

Pyrotechnics in fashion- start 2012 with a bang
Fireworks are mesmerising. The ooos and ahhs when the sky lights up with delicate, ephemeral shapes, sparkly lights and the contrasting loud bangs inspire and awe the spectators regardless of their culture. These otherworldly shapes in the sky have also inspired Dolce&Gabbana in their Spring Summer 2012 collection.

Stars, as old as the universe, but always on trend
The Dolce&Gabbana FW11 collection was based on the contrast between masculine and feminine. Role-playing, fabric swapping and silhouette challenging designs dominated the catwalk. To concretise the distinction between the masculine and the feminine, the duo decided to hang their perceptions on a print, an icon, a symbol as old as the world itself- the star.

Dolce & Gabbana are masters in creating iconic objects of desire which transcend trends and even decades: the corset dress, the masculine look, the embroidered cocktail dress and the Miss Sicily hand bag, to name but a few. To that list is it safe to say that we can add this summer’s must have accessory: the Dolce Bag.

When the Swide team was backstage at the Men’s Dolce&Gabbana FW13 fashion show, we couldn’t help but eavesdrop on what the male models were talking about; the questions that girls ask them again and again and again.
A fiercely cold winter evening in London didn’t deter the Stamford Bridge faithful from getting behind their beloved Chelsea and packing out the stadium as they hosted Manchester United. I on the other hand didn’t have to brave the cold as I got to watch the game from the luxury of the Dolce&Gabbana Lounge pitch-side at the Bridge.
