D&G salutes Dorian Gray

Oscar Wilde and one of his most popular characters, Dorian Gray is the inspiration behind the new fall/winter D&G menswear collection. As Oscar mania begins (catch Ed Westwick in an Oscar T-shirt inside),new film Dorian Gray starring Colin Firth, Ben Barnes and Rebecca Hall & directed by Oliver Parker will premiere in London on Monday.

The new D&G collection which hits stores now (or shop online at dangstore.com), is inspired by the legendary writer Oscar Wilde and is perfectly timed to coincide with another much anticipated autumn release - that of Hollywood director Oliver Parker's adaptation of 'The Picture Of Dorian Gray'' which stars Colin Firth, Ben Barnes (featured below) and Rebecca Hall.

Embodying Wilde's visionary soul - the D&G fall/winter collection creates its own dizzying array of must-have pieces such as the Oscar Wilde t-shirt, already seen on Gossip Girl's Ed Westwick.


Taking inspiration from the dandy, eccentric and elegant world of Oscar Wilde - every part of the D&G collection including its accessories delves into the world of English elegance updated for the 2009 modern day hedonist. Silk foulards to be worn beneath suit jackets are available in a range of rich hues such as burgundy, blue, and gold mirror the opulent drawing rooms of old. Worn with jeans, the foulards add a touch of elegance and eccentricity to a simple jeans and suit jacket look.

Inspired by the Dorian Gray storyline and the character's constant quest for beauty - fabrics are rich and luxe with a sophisticated colour palette to match. Grey is the dominant colour referencing not only Oscar's character but an underlining military theme.
