Backstage Video: Dolce & Gabbana's new sensuality
Sensuality
is a Dolce & Gabbana fashion trait and for this spring/summer 2010 collection it's apparent in spadefuls. No obvious sensuality however, delicate fabrics such as white and black lace, and crochet create a feminine sense of transparency and lightness that is not only refreshingly modern but tactile too.
Sicily
and it's strong inspirational feel was apparent in the white lace dresses that reflected the gentle sway of Sicilian lace curtains seen in the opening scenes of the Luchino Visconti directed film, Il Gattopardo (The Leopard). Black corsets and fringed Tango style dresses such as the one worn by model Maria Carla in our video blend the designer's Sicilian inspirations with the collection's overall Latin feel.
Sartorial tailoring
is the collection's third main theme. Slim-fitting suits worn with velvet loafers create a strong and recognisable Dolce & Gabbana silhouette.

The designers referenced their strong design heritage in this collection, not only embracing their Sicilian roots but by also revisiting fabrics such as raffia (see the raffia corsets in our video). This fabric was used by the designers twenty years ago and was the first time they’d used it since in one of their catwalk collections.
If you believe that style should last longer than a season – this is the collection for you.
