The Dolce&Gabbana SS12 collection was inspired by the 50s aesthetic and the concept of old style Italian beauties. It did however also include a fun, almost irreverent element to the collection. This can be mainly ascertained in the prints, but also certain looks: in particular the new concept of the suit. Rigorously worn with culottes- almost mini bloomers with matching blazers, or if you’re really daring, just with this summers’ ubiquitous hit: the bralet.
The Fall Winter 2013 collections picked upon the two most important phenomena we are experiencing today. On the one side we’re looking back to simpler times, and on the other we’re faced with continued development and innovation, as well at meteoric rise of new economies who are leaders in the demand for luxury.
The mood at the men’s shows was almost oxymoronic to the times. Luxury was the buzzword for the season. Exquisitely crafted suits, tailored coats, fur, cashmere and couture like detailing such as gold thread embroidery made a stark contrast the sombre economic mood.
The Asian world is busy celebrating the Chinese New Year and welcoming the Year of the Dragon. The celebrations last for days on end, so there are plenty of occasions to show off those special occasion dresses.

Fireworks are mesmerising. The ooos and ahhs when the sky lights up with delicate, ephemeral shapes, sparkly lights and the contrasting loud bangs inspire and awe the spectators regardless of their culture. These otherworldly shapes in the sky have also inspired Dolce&Gabbana in their Spring Summer 2012 collection.
The Christmas trees are decorated, sumptuously wrapped gifts are piling up under said trees, the Nativity Scenes have taken pride of place in the house, and the party season is in full swing. Christmas is at the door, and here at Swide we’re already planning our outfits for New Year’s Eve…
