If you could distil the D&G SS12 Womenswear show what essence would you get? Foulards. These traditional, sometimes oldy-worldly accessories have been totally reinvented by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana and have become sexy and relevant once again.
With so many gorgeous looks on the catwalk it may be hard to hone in on the must have pieces for your next summer wardrobe.
The Dolce&Gabbana ss12 fashion show was a real visual feast; beautiful prints, macramé, bejewelled eveningwear and a vast choice of exquisitely crafted bodysuits. The Swide team have selected the key looks from the collection just for you.
Flowing skirts, tiny waists, Macramè with irreverent PVC details and crystal embellished bodysuits were the central pieces from a Dolce&Gabbana ss12 collection which looked back at the 1950s with as its inspiration the iconic Italian beauty and the population’s joie de vivre.
The mood at the men’s shows was almost oxymoronic to the times. Luxury was the buzzword for the season. Exquisitely crafted suits, tailored coats, fur, cashmere and couture like detailing such as gold thread embroidery made a stark contrast the sombre economic mood.
Why does Dolce&Gabbana not venture into the world of haute couture? This has long been a question on the fashion set’s lips. They have the craftsmanship, inventiveness and the loyal clientele. Well here is the next best thing.
The Fall Winter 2013 Dolce&Gabbana Collection was a baroque wonder, with at its centre the overcoat. The undisputed protagonist of the season is the coat, in all its versions. The Swide team have put together a video which features the most important items and themes from the collection. Pens at the ready, i see a shopping list emerging.
